Gone with the Wind's "Mammy" |
Rendering of an old family home on which I'm still working.I had to take a photo on the top of my car from across the street to get the oak leaves in the foreground to give the painting more depth.
Photo of Arrington Home here in Collins. I'm removing the street light, but keeping the street sign, "Arrington" to make it a bit more special. |
Fashion, Eiffel Tower, Poodles, Arc de Trompe...The POSTAGE STAMP DATE was LITERALLY "Post Dated" as I painted this while she was taking French classes in school, the spring before she left for Paris. This denotes the actual date of her class trip to France. Fleur de lis, taken from the Iris, another "fleur"Look closely to the middle picture on the left hand side, You can see a couple standing over a river bridge. Her wrought iron headboard served as the LEFT bridge side rail, I painted the RIGHT side rail in perspective so you could "see" the couple standing over the water. |
Jesus I painted to donate to Joyce Meyer Ministries "CAST YOUR CARES"
|
|
Jesus Christ, Designed & Painted as a gift to Dave & Joyce Meyer Ministries. Listening to Joyce has meant a lot to me. "Cast Your Cares" is what Dave has taught Joyce, who now gives voice to not only her profound sayings, but her husband's as well.
Joyce began her ministry in Missouri, on which a light green Swarovski crystal is placed over her state. the World represents that even though she had a small beginning, she now is heard throughout the world.Behind Jesus' halo is the World repeated as a halo. In this, Jesus is blessing us with his right hand; bidding us to come to Him with his |

"Chucks" I painted for Holly to wear to Ole Miss this Fall. She LOVES 'em! (I'm glad).

I painted this pillow as a surprise for a
friend & just mailed it today. She will LOVE it! Check Mate! And I'll "gussie up" ANYTHING.
I attached Austrian crystals only to the tops of the "white" set. In my opinion, this chess set is easier to "read" . One doesn'thave to hold one 's finger atop the last piece you've moving to peer around other pieces. before you "let go" to make certain your piece is "safe". |
Folding Screens
I made a pair of these "Rabbit Chairs" for my niece and nephew years ago. I still love them! I patterned them after chairs I saw at Neiman Marcus Christmas catalogue.
Christmas OrnamentsHark! The Herald Angel!

PAINTING ON GLASSThis is a painting done on glass for a friend who has an affinity for hummingbirds. I've done stained glass as well but have no photos.
CLAY "House Portrait"My Cottage in Spring.
Clay "Portraits" may also be made depicting prominent buildings in your area such as schools, courthouses, churches, etc. I started painting plates once I broke a friend's piece of imported pottery. I ran to the store, grabbed a white plate & duplicated it. She was more proud of mine that then one I had broken. WHEW!

FURNITURE DESIGNING---one of my MOST enjoyable experiences
This was designed for my brother's sawmill office. He predominantly sells oak.Furniture Design is FUN! I'd like to do more of this. This piece is for my brother's office. He sells oak, so naturally this will be made of red oak.

While I was designing furniture, I had this crazy idea we needed someone to hand carve a photo. I commissioned Alex Brown, a Mississippi sculptor of wood, to carve a photo of my daddy's first sawmill into 2" thick red oak folding screen for my brother, Leslie's, sawmill office.
Naturally, I DID NOT CARVE THIS BELOW. It is not "my" art, per se, however it was my inspiration, and as I've a degree in Environmental Design I feel it still qualifies as "mine" to a certain degree, which is why I've chosen to include it:

THIS is the little one shed sawmill our daddy had. Alex did a fantastic job, sculpting the photograph into the wooden panels, did he not?
I've had fun doing a LOT of creative things. Designing my own advertisement for Mississippi Magazine was especially fun, I guess because it was so different. I believe I could easily go into graphic design.

Mural for Art Centre, Share Holiday Village in Northern Ireland I did fhis mural from "found objects" representing the Share Holiday Centre in Lisnaskea, Northern Ireland, where I do volunteer work. Note the rolling green hills, sailboat, and swans. ALL swans, so I've been told, still belong to the Queen and no one is to bother them in any fashion.
"BUTTERFLY IN A HURRICANE"This is the title of my book I'm writing about manic depression (bi-polar disorder). I didn't do this scherenschnitte (this is one art I've never attempted), but I like it and have written the artist to perhaps use it as one of my illustrations. Pretty appropriate, eh?
It's at DeviantArt.com under "Half Torn Butterfly" if you wish to buy one or contact the artist. . http://browse.deviantart.com/?qh=§ion=&q=torn+butterfly#/d25mbwz |

I CHEATED!
I found this wonderful canvas print of a mule pulling a carriage in the French Quarter Market. I took the canvas print off the frame and stapled it to my bedroom door (it's a Dutch door-I close the bottom half at night to keep the dogs off the bed) you can see it's open a wee bit in the final painting. Then I painted what "I" felt was "missing" in the picture.

Here Tis!I took this photo right after I finished last night with my paint brushes and other items yet to be cleaned up. I JUST LOVE IT! There's more I'll have to do (notice the carriage only has one wheel)! but I ALWAYS keep painting my personal murals here in my home. It's my hobby! Cowbells! A not frowned upon practice at football games. On this I used sheets of whisper thin Copper Leaf. I love the effect.
